TWO PV PLAYERS INVITED TO ULTIMATE 100 CAMP

Two PV Linemen Invited

An invitation to the NUC Ultimate 100 Top Prospects football combine at the University of Oklahoma is something only a few Utah preps receive. Sponsored by Rivals.com and covered by ESPN.com and Scout.com, the NUC (National Underclassmen Combine) annually selects 15 players nationwide for each position (offensive line, receiver, quarterback, running back, defensive line, linebacker and defensive back) and grade (freshmen-junior).

This year two athletes who play side by side on Pine View’s offensive line received an invitation.  Junior right tackle Austin Mickelson (6-3 256) and sophomore right guard Logan Stott (6-2 270) were each extended an invitation after standout performances first in one of sixty state-level NUC competitions and then in one of the five regional competitions held around the country. At each of the competitions the players are tested in the 40 yard dash, agility shuttle, standing broad jump, standing vertical leap, bench press, and then former NFL and college position coaches evaluate their offensive line technique and their ability to successfully pass-block defensive linemen in a one-on-one competition.

Mickelson was the offensive line MVP at the Salt Lake combine and was then invited to the west regional competition in Los Angeles where his performance earned him an invitation to the University of Oklahoma combine.

Stott, who was also invited last year as a freshman, competed in Fresno, California this year, because of a scheduling conflict, and was selected not only best offensive lineman, but camp overall MVP as well.  He then competed at the mid-west regional in Indianapolis, Indiana, and received his second invite to the University of Oklahoma.
