STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING REPORT
PANTHERS REACH NEW MARKS
After last year's disappointing season the Panthers resolved to get better with a heavy dose of iron. Beginning in November, the Panthers began an intensive offseason strength and conditioning program designed to make them bigger, stronger and faster. The program consists of heavy lifting on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and running and agility drills on Tuesday and Thursday. The program has definitely paid dividends.
Five players have now joined the elite 800 club, which requires combined single repetition maximums in the bench press and back squat of at least 800 pounds. Those five players are Matt Feula (315 bench, 520 squat), Trevor Stott (315 bench, 500 squat), Ty Matavao (325 bench, 500 squat), Matt Mcbride (315 bench, 485 squat) and Logan Stott (365 bench and 475 squat). Logan's lifts are both Pine View records for a freshman.
Ten players have reached the 700 club. Those players are Isaac Katoa (325 bench, 445 squat), Austin Mikkelson (310 bench, 405 squat), Andrew Misa (300 bench, 455 squat), Wes Gardner (335 bench, 455 squat), Cody Nebeker (280 bench, 435 squat),freshman Prentiss Miller (285 bench, 415 squat), Alec Mecham (315 bench, 405 squat), Kyle Morely (245 bench, 455 squat), KJ Guard (275 bench, 425 squat)and David Tavita (275 bench, 445 squat).
So far this year 20 players have squatted over 400 pounds, and 11 players have bench pressed over 300 pounds. With three months left before the football season starts, this Panther squad will be the strongest Pine View has ever had.
